Kalāheo residents asked to conserve water
KALĀHEO – The Department of Water (DOW) has issued a water conservation request for Kalāheo residents effective today due to repair and maintenance work on the Kalāheo Nursery tank. The work is expected to be completed by the end of next week.
The affected areas include: the mauka side of Kaumuali‘i Highway from Wawae to Opu Road including La‘e, Pu‘uwai; Kikala, Kuli roads; and all side streets off these roads.
While the work is being done, customers in the affected and surrounding areas are urged to conserve water and restrict water consumption to essential uses. These measures may prevent the depletion of the limited water supply.
Essential needs include: cooking; bathing; and toilet flushing.
Water conservation measures include: refraining from car washing; reducing outdoor irrigation; and using water wisely indoors and outdoors.
Residents are also asked to notify their family, friends, and neighbors that will be affected by the conservation request.
The Department of Water would like to thank Kalāheo residents and visitors for conserving water during this time, and for their patience as improvements to DOW’s aging infrastructure continue.
For more information, please call the Department of Water at 245-5461 during business hours, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For emergencies after business hours, call Police Dispatch at 241-1711.
